Groundhog Day

we are on Day 3 of Hugo walking... Its the strangest of things.
He has been waking up every morning & not remembering how to walk!
So each day Emilyn & I are having to re teach him.
It's amazing to see just how happy he is to be walking!
I can't remember Emilyn being like this? I just remember her learning to walk & thats it she was walking.
Hugo on the other hand seems to have a very small memory!!
He can take about 5 - 7 steps... Its amazing enough for me & I now know he CAN walk. After scaring myself half to death that he may never be able to walk...
I am over the moon feels all a bit surreal that he can walk actually.
I've not rung the Physio's yet as he isnt stable at walking & he isn't walking outside or for long distance, I will phone them soon though for guidance more than anything...
They will probably want to fit him with Piedro Boots  to help support his feet, ankles, legs...
But at least he is WALKING
even if we are having to re-teach him on a daily basis!

YouTube Videos

Day 3 - well we haven't got that far yet... we are still re teaching him how to walk.

I wonder how long Groundhog day will last?

A Happy Hugo *Something to smile about...

Its Half term in Sunny Sussex...!
This means I am going CRAZY! seriously & with this rainy weather its totally not helping me...
We've been keeping as busy as we can though..
Whilst baking biscuits & doing arts & crafts today... I wont bore you with a blog all about Emilyn's glitter family or how yummy my chocolate dairy free biscuits are... but i will tell you about this little monkey.

& what a monkey he is.!
He was copying my facial expressions
In need of a smile or a giggle?
He is such a cutie!

Happy Thursday all...

Hugo done it; He just got up today & WALKED! Talipes baby Walking!!

We know most babies walk its a mile stone it makes parents the proudest ever to see their little poppet walk.
Well how did I feel watching Hugo really WALK not just stumble but walk.!!
He just got up & walked *like everyone said he would probably do...

Its amazing it really is. Now the scary part phoning my Physio & seeing what they'll say about his feet.
As Hugo is Hypermobile & with Bilateral Talipes; He may need Pedro Boots fitted.
A huge weight has been lifted!!
You can see him take his first steps HERE

It was so lovely to have his Nanny & Aunties over to watch him too! It was so out of the blue but he's toddling everywhere now looks very teletubby like ... :)

Second-hand Baby and Children's clothes, DO YOU BUY THEM? - Guest Blog

I caught up with Emma from - earlier this week to discuss second hand baby & children clothes... heres what she had to say....

Second-hand Baby and Kid’s Clothes, Do You Buy Them?
Calling all parents! I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts on second-hand kids clothes - what do you buy? What do you not buy? Why do you buy it?

I’m doing my PhD on this very topic, co-sponsored by the parenting charity NCT. If you haven’t been to NCT nearly new sales, I’d certainly recommend them. Usually held twice a year (sometimes more) at local branches all over the UK, nearly new sales give parents the opportunity to buy and sell second-hand baby clothes, toys and equipment. As someone who tries to consume as sustainably as possible, I love snapping up second-hand things, but I know not everyone agrees with me.
I’ve done a lot of research into the second-hand consumer and it does seem the primary motivation is financial – people like to save money. This is especially true for second-hand baby things, but as supermarkets are so cheap, why else might we buy second-hand stuff? I think partly it’s just to have more stuff, and better quality (second-hand Baby GAP, Boden why not!). When you start thinking about vintage fashion and antiques motives change, people buy these things because they are looking for authenticity and something unique, clearly these items aren’t cheap.
More and more parents are cottoning on to the benefits of dressing their kids in second-hand clothing. For many, there is a clear difference between hand-me-downs passed on from known family and friends, and the purchase of second-hand clothes from total strangers. Second-hand clothes have had a life before we got hold of them – we don’t know where they have been and who has worn them. They have a history, a biography of their own and for this reason, some parents have been hesitant to go out and purchase second-hand clothing. This is starting to change though, partly due to increasing environmental consciousness, but primarily due to the impact of the recent financial recession. Indeed, consumer research agency Mintel, found that since the onset of the 2009 economic crisis 1 in 5 parents have purchased a greater number of second-hand items for their kids in order to save money.
Bex shared some of her bargains with me before for an Oxfam post
So where can you find these great second-hand clothes?

Nearly New SalesYour first port of call, nearly new sales are set up specifically for baby and children’s items so they are the most efficient form of second-hand shopping. Get there early to snap up the best bits.

Second-hand ShopsAn increasing number of for-profit second-hand children’s clothes shops (like Smartiesare popping up in towns across the UK. Good for designer goods.

Online AuctionsEgeBayGood for searching for specific items, but you can’t see them up close before you buy.

Charity ShopsTime consuming, but satisfying if you find something good. Plus, there is the added bonus of donating money to charity.

Car Boot SalesHit and miss on quality but you may find some good bargains.

FreecycleFreecycle brings the age-old tradition of hand-me-downs to the wider community. Top items shift quickly so you have to be on the ball to respond to ads in time.
What do you think about second-hand kid’s clothes and where do you get yours from?

Talipes Baby Best Buggy?

The best buggy for a Talipes Baby?  Quinny? Bugaboo Bas Kosters? Or Bugaboo Bee Plus?

What Buggy would you chose?

Quinny Moodd, Bugaboo Bas Kosters, Buagboo Bee plus all black Missoni,

When I found out I was having a baby with Bilateral Talipes... I was obviously spinning questions after questions around in my head.
My main question was what Buggy will my baby be able to go in nicely!?
Here we have my 3 out of 4 buggies -

  • A Quinny Moodd
  • A Bugaboo Cameleon
  • A Bugaboo Bee Plus

I tried Hugo out in all of them with his Boots & bar on... Bare in mind Hugo is 16 months old & out of the Full Time BnB; he very rarely goes in his Pushchair with his bnb on now.
But when we are on holiday he will be in his bnb much more as we will be out in the evenings,
So its good to know what buggy suits his bnb best.
We tried him in the Quinny Moodd first RRP is £600 from Mothercare
Quinny Moodd
The footrest was fab - the bar rests on it nicely, Hugo didn't look uncomfortable in it either.
Quinny Moodd
The front bar unclips *Its on elastic to stop it falling on the floor. its good for putting baby in & out. You can remove it fully & take the elastic off... you may need to do this with your baby if wearing boots & bar as you may get stuck!
Boots & Bar seem to manage to get stuck on everything...
Quinny Moodd
Quinny Moodd

Quinny Moodd,

We next tried Hugo in the Bugaboo Remember this is not the Bugaboo Cameleon V3  Basic Bugaboo RRP £799 This is the Bugaboo by Bas RRP £2000+
The bar Removes really quickly with two little buttons from either side..

Clipping the bar back in... Bugaboo Bas Kosters

Hugo in his Bugaboo By Bas Koster

The footrest on the Bugaboo looks good. its a good width & no gaps. the BnB rests nicely...

Bugaboo Bas Kosters

Last but definitely not least we tried the Bugaboo Bee Plus This is a All Black Missoni Special limited edition RRP for a basic Bee Plus is £479... RRP for the all black is £529
Bugaboo Bee Plus
He doesn't have a foot rest on this one. no support for his BnB at all. But he looks happy enough in it.
what i have noticed with him facing forwards is that he hits his legs accidentally on the front bits. He has hurt himself 3 or so times on it now.
Bugaboo Bee plus

I think Hugo would chose the Bugaboo Cameleon & Quinny Moodd are the Best Buggy for his BnB ...
Hugo choses the bugaboo Cameleon...

Oh & he has just informed me that the Quinny Moodd was JUST as comfortable so they both win best Talipes Buggies.

Aswell as seeing what Buggy is Best for a Talipes baby... I have been keeping a secret...
Do you remember my blog post - The Bugaboo Brigade? I was blabbering on about The ANDY WARHOL Hood...
We have a new addition in our family.
Yep, I think you just may of guessed. Its the Andy Warhol Special Edition Cars HOOD! I got the last one from John Lewis but the flowers is still in Stock.

You know I have A buggy obsession I can't help it... If you can't understand perhaps read...

This is the Bugaboo's with their Footmuff's on too. Hugo Can fit in the new bugaboo-high-performance-footmuff quite well with his BnB on & its a tight fir but he can fit in the bugaboo-universal-footmuff

Bugaboo Universal footmuff VS the Bugaboo High performance Footmuff

Please Note *Declaration I was NOT Given The Andy Warhol Hood By Bugaboo I bought it with my Hard Earned Saved Up Money. The High Performance FootMuff I WON from Bugaboo in 2012.
