A Children's wardrobe D.I.Y upcycling

Upcycling furniture in stages -

Its the NEW YEAR - Meaning I have new odd jobs to fulfil, Do you remember my up cycling Ikea drawers blog post? - you can refresh your memory here - Cath Kidston drawers well they didn't last much longer.
Our lovely Antique shop closed down & by chance we stumbled into our local charity shop (Specialises in furniture) I fell in love with this Childrens wardrobe. For £40 too I snapped it up.
Its been sat in their bedroom in dark wood with a horrible varnish on for a few months now.
I popped into our local Homebase & managed to get 5 litres of brilliant white paint only Dulux for just £7. Price error on their system! Bargain.
I did Sand the whole wardrobe down. the smell was awful I have no idea what varnish was used on it... but it wasn't the nicest of smells.
Love my sander...
The wardrobe before
Wardrobe first layer of paint
These beautiful rose handles... these will / be painted white then taken off to be sprayed with glitter.

The wardrobe with just one layer of paint....
First layer done.

Applying second layer
Using Dulux paint really made me realise just how good Annie Sloan paint is. I had to apply 5 layers of Dulux paint & I really think it needs more.
This is the wardrobe with 4 layers of paint!

It amazes me how much some white paint changes furniture! Sneak preview of the drawers too Blog post to follow...
